The breath is what differentiates yoga from stretching and it is the breath which is our tool to unite the mind, body and spirit. Yoga breathing, or Pranayama, is the science of breath control. Consisting of a series of exercises especially intended to meet the body's needs and keep it in vibrant health. Breath limitation causes stress and increases the likelihood of the body’s major systems not functioning properly. Oxygen assists the cells in removing waste products, supports the immune system and neutralises the blood toxins. The breath is also our key to the body’s natural battery, the Solar Plexus, which is where tremendous potential energy is stored. Asanas (physical poses) combined with Pranayama open the inner life force.

Traditional Yogis refer to one’s age as being equivalent to the suppleness and flexibility of the spine. “You are as young as your spine.”
